The Round Rock Public Library

Round Rock Public Library signThe new Round Rock Public Library is estimated to be completed by January 2023, and we can’t wait! While we already love visiting the current library, located in downtown Round Rock, we look forward to visiting the new one.

The Upcoming, New Round Rock Public Library

The current library is located at 216 East Main Street. The new library location is just one block north of the current one. It will be a 3 story building with approximately 66,000 square feet, plus a parking garage. The parking garage will also serve the downtown area.

The design for the new library was created by PGAL, Inc., an international design firm founded in 1946. PGAL, Inc. has a staff of over 300 architects, engineers, and designers. Click here to view the library renderings.

Modernized and sleek looking, with outdoor garden spaces, this new library is sure to please everyone’s aesthetic taste. It includes more space, tons of windows for natural light, advanced technology, and flexible conference rooms. The flexible conference rooms can hold training labs, educational activities, and meetings. Our boys will definitely enjoy the outdoor courtyard area, where they won’t have to be as quiet as inside the library!

The Current Round Rock Public Library

While the upcoming, new library is very exciting, we still enjoy the old one. It offers a ton of opportunities for learning and enjoyment – books, ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and even puppets! We allow our boys to select one puppet at a time, and then we read at home using our puppets. And laughter and giggles follow 🙂 Also, we encourage our boys to choose books they want to read. We’ve found this helps them get excited about reading and fosters reading enjoyment and fun!

The Round Rock Library tends to kids of all ages – from babies to teens. We’ve attended Storytime, where a librarian reads books to kids. And the Rockin’ Kids Club is fun too, with its various kid suitable science activities that get children thinking and questioning. There is also Babytime Buzz, to share a rhyme, song, or book with your little one. And for the teens, there’s a book club. Check out their calendar of upcoming events.

If you can’t get to the library in person, books may be downloaded online. The library provides Spanish ebooks and TumbleBooks too! Curbside pick up and drop off is available. Reserving a book online is also available!

If you don’t own a computer, no worries! The Round Rock Public Library has you covered. The library has 44 computers available for use by members or guests. Laptops and Chromebooks may be checked out by members in good standing. And thanks to Friends of the Round Rock Public Library, members may ‘check out’ a mobile hotspot with unlimited data.
