Round Rock is a bustling city north of Austin, TX located on Interstate Highway 35. This community is known for its outdoor activities and historic sites. Sports Capital of Texas
That’s right, Round Rock is The Sports Capital of Texas. Round Rock is home to a minor league baseball team, the Round Rock Express, that plays at Dell Diamond. Besides the amazing close-up views of the baseball action, Dell Diamond also offers a pool and spa, “sports court,” 26-foot high simulated rock wall, and much more. For those that love baseball, but want to get in on the action, Champion Fields at Old Settler’s Park offers 20 baseball fields and five softball fields.
Football is big in Texas, as everyone probably knows. Dr. R.L. Peters Jr. Field at Dragon Stadium features a regulation football field and track. This immense stadium makes watching football games a fun and luxurious experience.
For those who prefer taking part in indoor sports, the Clay Madsen Recreation Center has two full-size gymnasiums, a six-lane 25-yard lap pool, four racquetball courts, cardio and weight room, meeting rooms, a game room, and babysitting. If those activities aren’t enough for you, the Rock Sports Arena has a 21,000 square foot facility for action-packed sports. These sports include roller derby, inline hockey, a 24-hour fitness center, and hosts tournaments for mixed martial arts, boxing, and corporate and social events as well.
The Round Rock Multipurpose Complex includes natural and synthetic turf fields and Musco sports lighting for various outdoor sports. In addition to traditional outdoor sports like football and soccer, the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex also hosts new sporting events including Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Rugby, Lacrosse, Flag Football, Quidditch, and Bubble Ball.
Round Rock has multiple sports facilites that offer all sorts of indoor and outdoor sports. From baseball to roller derby to lacrosse and so much more, Round Rock has a booming sports scene.
Higher Education
Round Rock is home to a multitude of higher education opportunities at multiple campuses. These campuses include Texas A&M Health Science Center of Round Rock, Texas State University – Round Rock, and Austin Community College.
The Texas A&M Health Science Center of Round Rock is a community-based medical school with third- and fourth-year training programs at clinical campuses around the state. The Texas A&M College of Nursing offers face-to-face instruction for both Traditional and Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs. Texas State University – Round Rock offers Junior and Senior level classes in 13 bachelor’s degrees and 12 master’s degrees, as well as 13 certifications. Austin Community College is located on 84 acres of land and enrolls over 5,000 students. The community college offers core curriculum, university transfer degrees, and workforce/technical degrees.
Parks
There are over thirty amazing parks in Round Rock, including Old Settler’s Park and Memorial Park. Old Settler’s Park is home to a sweeping 640 acres of rolling hills host to local events, fairs, and festivals. This Round Rock gem includes 3.3 miles of paved trails that cross the lake and connect several of the park’s key features like Dell Diamond, along with 7 playgrounds. Other parks include Clay Madsen Park, Chisholm Trail Crossing Park, and Brushy Creek Lake Park.
In addition, Round Rock is home to several untraditional parks. These parks include the Dog Depot Dog Park, Downtown Plazas, and the Shaylah Dame Skate Park. The Play For All Abilities Park has activities engineered so children with varying levels of ability can have fun in the great outdoors. Shopping
Round Rock is home to the Round Rock Premium Outlets, a large outdoor shopping mall with outlet stores and food court. Residents stop here to peruse the latest trends and catch deals from well-known brand name stores.
Just south of the Round Rock Premium Outlets is IKEA, the Scandinavian home furnishing store well-known for packaging everything in boxes. This IKEA is the only location in the Austin area, so residents from all around come here to enjoy the modern offerings this store has to offer.
Bass Pro Shop is in northern Round Rock and offers everything any fisherman could ever dream of owning. Visiting the store is an adventure in itself.
Fun
Coming November 2020, Kalahari Resorts will open their first Texas location in Round Rock. Kalahari Resorts features “America’s Largest Indoor Waterparks” and was voted “World’s Coolest Indoor Waterparks.” Cool off and have fun in 223,000 square feet of indoor waterpark excitement! Complete with a convention center, luxurious dining, shopping, outdoor pool section, and adventure activities like laser tag, mini golf, climbing wall, and indoor zip line, this park will provide ceaseless fun for you and your family.
Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill offers a unique aquatic spin on traditional bowling and billiards halls. Complete with a full menu, Uncle Buck’s offers customers the experience of dining next to a massive saltwater aquarium with beautiful, tropical fish.
The nearby Inner Space Cavern is a step back into historic times. This natural cave system offers tours through the cool, dark expanse. It’s appropriate and educational for all ages. Another unique experience you can find in Round Rock is the McNeil Bridge Bats. Home to a massive urban bat population, you can set a lawn chair down off the intersection of McNeil road and I-35 to watch thousands of bats leaving the underpass in the evening.
Medical Hub
Round Rock has multiple hospitals for medical use and training purposes as well. These include St. David’s Round Rock, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, and Ascension Seton Medical Center Williamson.
