Housewarming Gifts

Housewarming gifts are a great way to help new homeowners celebrate their new home. It can be tough to figure out something useful to give someone though.  Here are five that will cover most of your basic home maintenance projects.

Housewarming Gift #1: Cordless Drillcordless drill being used in house project

A cordless drill is a must-have for installing drawer pulls, hinges, picture frames, shelves, hooks, curtains, cabinetry, and more. Whether it’s for do-it-yourself projects or repairs, they’ll use the cordless drill just about every month. This is the best housewarming gift for a new homeowner.

#2: Drain Cleaners

Shower and bathroom sink drains are susceptible to clogs because of the daily buildup of hair and whisker clippings. You can use chemical clog removers like Drano, but they’re expensive. The lingering chemical scent is unpleasant too. Instead, buy some plastic drain cleaners that can reach into the drain to pull out the hair and gunk. You may purchase them on Amazon or at a local hardware store for a low price.

#3: Shop Vac

There are some tasks that just can’t be handled with paper towels or a standard vacuum. And no matter how careful you are, spills and accidents will happen, usually originating from children and/or pets 🙂  Shop vacs are great for wet or dry spills and just about any heavy duty job.

Prices vary depending on the brand, size, and attachments. Any local hardware store carries shop vacs, as well as online stores like Amazon.

Housewarming Gift Suggestion #4: Loppers

Even the minimum amount of care for your landscaping will require some lopper use. Loppers are used to remove medium-size branches, vines, thick weeds, and any other unruly plants in your yard.

Loppers are easier on the pocket book than a shop vac and still quite a thoughtful gift!

#5: Flashlight

At a minimum, it’s good to have a flashlight stored somewhere in every bedroom. You never know when you’ll need it!
